Playing in the nature of Epelaar
Surrounding De Lilse Bergen on all sides are forests. However, this walk also ventures into other landscapes. Beyond the equestrian center, the forest gives way to meadows where you’ll see mainly horses grazing and trotting.
The path begins to twist and turn towards the Schrieken and Epelaar nature areas, where you will discover low peat bogs, flower-filled grasslands, wet woodlands, and fens. Nature development projects aim to break up the monotony of the forest by restoring large heathland areas. Since the natural environment here is fragile, it’s better to stay on the paths. The only exception is the Epelaar play zone, which you pass when leaving the nature reserve. Here, you can leave the beaten paths and unleash your inner wild animal. There are a few pieces of play equipment and even a fitness track.
A forest avenue leads you back to De Lilse Bergen.
